The Beginnings
The history of INTEREP begins in 1911 with the PFEULMER brothers, who filed patents for the injection of inert gas into foam rubber. After perfecting this process in Paris, two factories were established, one in Belgium and the other in France (Aurec sur Loire). These two businesses merged, adopting the name Société Franco-Belge du Caoutchouc Mousse (SFBCM), although production was centralized in France.
Changes and Expansion
In 1982, SFBCM was acquired by its customers and renamedINTEREP, which stands for International Company for the Transformation and Distribution of Elastomers and Plastomers. Since 1994, INTEREP has been part of the HCM group (Holding Caoutchouc Mousse) to expand its business globally, reaching 40 countries with 90% exports.
Consolidation and Leadership
In 2009, a subsidiary in China was established to meet the needs of the Asian and Oceanian markets. In 2013, INTEREP merged with SOCATEX, further solidifying its position as a European leader in the closed cellular rubber market and enhancing its expertise internationally.
